Zacchaeus the Tax Collector
Zacchaeus is a notable figure in the New Testament, specifically found in the Gospel of Luke 19:1-10.
Zaccheaus was a tax collector in a town called Jericho. People didn’t like him because he stole money. Zacchaeus wanted to see Jesus who was visiting the town. He climbed a tree so he could see him. Jesus saw him and shouted, “Come down. I am coming to your house.” Zacchaeus was happy. The people were cross with Jesus. Jesus helped Zacchaeus change his greedy ways. Zacchaeus said “Lord. I give half my money to the poor. I will pay back four times the amount of money to people I have cheated.” Jesus was happy. Zacchaeus was now a kind man.
Dear Lord,
Thank you for today’s Bible story about forgiveness.
Thank you that if we say sorry to you, you give us a fresh start.
Please help us to be forgiving people here in this school.
Amen.
Have a go at writing a forgiveness prayer to share with your class.
